D.J. made the gravy first thing Sunday morning because he is an absolute doll. I got to sleep in, and he even made fresh bread. Good job, Husband!

This week’s menu is going to be nice and easy, which is exactly what we need because it’s Homecoming week. There are events almost every night, the football game is Friday, and the dance is Saturday. This is absolutely not the week for complicated dinners or recipes requiring seventeen ingredients and my undivided attention.

This Week’s Menu

Sunday - Spaghetti

D.J.’s homemade gravy, spaghetti, and fresh bread. The man really set the bar high for the rest of the week.

Monday - Steak Stir-Fry

Quick, easy, and most importantly something that should leave enough leftovers to feed the teenagers.

Tuesday - $2 Street Tacos

Tacos Selene has $2 tacos on Tuesdays, and I see no reason to argue with that kind of logic.

Wednesday - Leftovers

Between the spaghetti and stir-fry, there should be plenty of food in the refrigerator. Everyone can choose their own adventure.

Thursday - Chicken Caesar Tacos

These are ridiculously easy to make, and everyone loves them. I’m planning to share the recipe this weekend, so thank you to the Instagram algorithm for bringing this one into our lives.

Friday - Out

It’s the Homecoming football game, and Anthony will be shooting off the T-shirt cannon he built. Dinner will happen whenever and wherever we can squeeze it in.

Saturday - Not Sure Yet

It’s the Homecoming dance, so Saturday’s dinner is currently a problem for Future Lindsie.

Groceries Without Entering a Grocery Store

I ordered all of our groceries through Amazon Fresh this week, and honestly, Amazon Fresh is fucking awesome. I chose the 365 by Whole Foods Market brand for most of our groceries. The produce and meat seem so much better than what I usually find at the grocery store. They last longer, the quality is better, and they’re worth spending an

extra couple of bucks on.

Except that, through Amazon, it really isn’t always more expensive. The ground chicken I use for the Chicken Caesar tacos is usually around $4-$5 per pound through Amazon. At the grocery store, I’ve seen it priced closer to $7-$8 per pound. Better quality and a lower price? Fine. Take my money.

Homecoming Week Chaos

As I mentioned, we have a lot going on this week. There are Homecoming events almost every night, followed by the game on Friday and the dance on Saturday.

I wish they had fun after-Homecoming events like they do for prom. Last year, D.J., Ashley, and I volunteered for After Prom and got to be blackjack dealers. It was one of the best nights out I’d had in a long time.

Did I have to slam two energy drinks to survive our late shift? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. It was a fucking blast.

Anyway... back to this week’s menu.

It’s simple, everything should make plenty of leftovers, and the teenager will have food to inhale whenever he wanders into the kitchen. That feels like about as much preparation as I can manage during Homecoming week.

Now we just have to see whether we actually follow the menu. Wish me luck.
