This Week’s Games

D.J.’s Picks:

Pan-Am: This game has been sitting on our shelf for about 2 or 3 years now. A friend gave it to us before she moved away, and we were always too intimidated to play it. As we have gotten into the hobby more, this game looks as light as Yahtzee (ok.. maybe an exaggeration), but I am so happy to see it on our table this week! Pan-Am is a thrilling journey through the golden age of aviation in this strategic board game.
Tokaido: A beautiful game that we would be happy to play anytime. In Tokaido, you travel along the beautiful East Sea Road of Japan in this serene and visually stunning game of exploration.
Suburbia: A new game on the table this week! Suburbia is a game we’ve been looking at for a while now, and finally pulled the trigger on buying. In Suburbia, you build and manage your own city while competing with your family members for resources and prestige.

Lindsie’s Selections:

Space Base: Quickly becoming one of my favorite games! This game is so much fun, and there are so many different cards, making each game different! In Space Base, you take command of your own space fleet and compete to become the most powerful commander in the galaxy.
Tranquility: ‘Unwind’ with this cooperative card game set in a tranquil dreamscape, perfect for soothing the mind after a long day. We haven’t played this one yet, but we’re I am super excited to play it!
Libertalia: Set sail as a pirate in the air and engage in swashbuckling adventures as you compete for treasure and glory. This game is so beautiful, I just want to play so that I can look at it! Libertalia is new to the collection, and already a highlight on our shelf!

Anthony’s Choices:

Tapple: Test your quick thinking and vocabulary skills in this fast-paced word game that’s perfect for family fun. Anthony was asking for this game from the moment our friends brought it over for game night. It’s a fun and frustrating game of trying to find words that start with every letter of the alphabet for different categories.
French Quarter: Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of New Orleans as you compete to have the best time in the French Quarter. This game is brand new, and is my favorite of all of Motor City Game Works Games! This was our very first kick-starter game, and is everything I hoped that it would be and more. Seeing this one pop up on Anthony’s list made me so happy to see this week!
Micro Macro Crime City: Another new one for us! This game just looked adorable, and like it would just be a lot of fun to play, so we bought it! I was happy to see this one pop up on Anthony’s weekly list, too! To play, you put your detective skills to the test in this unique detective game where you’ll solve crimes by examining detailed illustrated scenes.

Joey’s Favorites:

Camel Up: My boy loves to press his luck which is why I think he likes this one so much! In Camel Up, you experience the excitement of camel racing in this unpredictable and hilarious game that’s fun for the whole family! This game is fun when it’s just our family playing, or when it’s a big group.
Dorf Romantik: An adorable game, that Joey has fallen in love with. Build your own village in this charming tile-laying game set in the Bavarian countryside. This is a campaign style game, so what happens in each game effects what happens in the next. We’ve only just started building our village, I’m excited to see how the game progresses.
Happy Little Dinosaurs: This game is just so freaking cute – like I can’t even. It’s hilarious, and all of the little expansions add so much to the game. I think my favorite expansion is the Perils of Puberty. Every card has made us laugh. Embrace your inner artist and create a world of colorful dinosaurs in this whimsical drawing game that’s sure to bring smiles all around. Without a doubt, this will be the first game we play on Sunday morning!

We can’t wait to share our gaming adventures with you throughout the week! Be sure to follow us on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube!
