Sausage Balls

Sausage Balls

[wprm-recipe-jump]

This classic, easy to make appetizer will be the star of the show at your next party! With only 5 ingredients, these Sausage Balls & Maple Mustard Dipping Sauce are ready in about 30 minutes, and can be prepared ahead of time!

Sausage Balls is something that D.J. has been asking me to make for a while now.  Since I can’t eat pork, I’ve been hesitant to make them… Only because it makes me sad that I can’t have it, and a little jealous, if I’m being honest.

To make the Sausage Balls, I used breakfast sausage, and cheddar cheese, but these can totally be made with different sausages and cheeses, for delicious variations.  Like spicy italian sausage and mozzarella, or chorizo with queso quesadilla. Yum!  All you do is mix it all together, by hand, and then roll them into balls and bake or fry them.  Easy peasy.  If you make a double recipe, you can freeze the uncooked sausage balls (as long as the sausage is fresh), and reheat them another time.

I made a Maple Mustard Dipping Sauce.  It is spin on traditional Honey Mustard, and it’s a little sweet, and a little tangy, and absolutely delicious with Sausage Balls.  You can also serve them with ranch, or honey mustard (if you don’t have maple), or bbq sauce or even french onion dip.  Or, better yet, serve them with a combination of dips!

I love easy appetizers like this.  I’m not sure why I didn’t make this one for Friendsgiving, but they will definitely be on the menu for next year. Or if D.J. has it his way, will be on the menu next week.
